It is well known today that using Facebook is a great way to create local awareness for your restaurant business and while everyone knows that, what they don’t know is how to create a game plan with actionable steps that actually create results.
One of the biggest mistakes that most restaurant owners make is not consistently using their business page to create momentum. The best way to see the results is posting engaging material at least twice a day. One should be of an entertaining, personal, or informative nature and the other can be about your restaurant.
One of the nice things about Facebook pages is the fact that you can schedule posts a head of time, so you should be planning one hour a week into your schedule to create your posts. If you can’t do it yourself, then find an employee who loves Facebook and pay them an extra hour a week to do posts for you.
So what types of things should you post on your Facebook page? Here are 5 different types of posts you can do.

1. Offers

You can create offers in your posts and these are great to entice people to come into your restaurant to redeem it. You can offer a discount or a 2 for 1 or a BOGO deal. You can decide how many people can claim it creating scarcity, plus you can decide how long you want the offer to last.
Once you have created it, you may want to pin it to the top so that it is the first thing people see when they come on your page.

2. Contests

Contests are a great way of getting customer engagement and viral sharing because your customers love to win things. There are apps that will help you do that. Here is one thing you must do, make sure that you check and follow Facebook’s rules on contests before doing one and check them often as they do change on a regular basis. If you break the rules and Facebook finds out, they will shut down your page.

3. Specials of the Day

Create specials that only people who come onto your Facebook page get to take advantage of. You can either name them, give them a number that people mention when they come into your store, or they have to show the server the post on their cell phones and the fact that they like it.

4. Food Pictures

Food pictures are some of the most shared things on Facebook and if you can create awesome looking pictures of the recipes that you use, it will attract attention. Add an informative, shareable tip and you will have a recipe for success.

5. Milestones

This is a great way to recognize anniversaries of not only the restaurant, but also of the employees and the foods you serve. It catches attention because people love to celebrate things.
If you are consistent over time, you will see an increase in likes to your page, engagement, and people coming into your restaurant because of it. Now is the time to start.
